Hamisa Mobetto is the most followed female celebrity in Tanzania on Instagram, boasting over 12.1 million followers since she joined the platform in December 2012, with her account being verified in October 2018.

Following closely behind Hamisa are Wema Sepetu, Miss Tanzania 2006, who has 11.8 million followers, and Shilole, an entrepreneur and musician known for her hit song "Nakomaa na Jiji" (2013), who has 10.9 million followers.

Instagram was launched in October 2010 by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and was acquired by Facebook, now known as Meta, in April 2012.

For Hamisa, Instagram serves as a significant source of income, likely surpassing her earnings from all her other ventures, thanks to numerous endorsement deals and collaborations with various companies and organizations.

In East Africa, Hamisa ranks second in terms of Instagram followers, just behind Uganda's Zari The Boss Lady, who has 12.4 million followers. Globally, the top spot is held by American artist Selena Gomez, with 421 million followers.

It is noteworthy that five years ago, Hamisa transitioned into the Bongo Flava music scene after achieving success in fashion and beauty, having won her first title as Miss XXL at the After School Bash organized by Clouds FM in 2010.

Hamisa continued her music career and released her EP, "Yours Truly" (2022), featuring six tracks. She has collaborated with various artists, including Diamond Platnumz, Christian Bella, Seneta Kilaka, Whozu, Otile Brown, Korede Bello, Singah, and many others.

Currently, Hamisa is regarded as a leading female star in Tanzania, with her salary significantly increasing compared to other female celebrities.
