The 'Ladies in Islam' organization has awarded an honorary prize to Tanzania's President Dr. Samia Suluhu for being the first woman to challenge societal beliefs that women cannot hold high leadership positions.
From her tenure as the first female Vice President to her current role as the first female President in Tanzania and East Africa, she has demonstrated that women can be effective leaders.
Salha Aziz, the founder and chairperson of Ladies in Islam, presented the award to President Samia through the Chief Secretary and Secretary of the Zanzibar Revolutionary Council, Eng. Zena Said Ahmed, who assured the organization that she would deliver the award to the President.
This recognition took place during a conference attended by over 1,000 women on March 26, 2025, organized by Ladies in Islam.
