National election to be held in accordance with the law and the constitution

The Secretary of the National Executive Committee (NEC) for Ideology, Propaganda, and Training of the Revolutionary Party (CCM), Amos Makalla, stated that the general elections in 2025 will proceed according to the constitution and laws, as changes have already been made, and no one can stop the elections.

Makalla made these remarks today, March 4, 2025, during a meeting with party leaders and community members at the grassroots level in Kinondoni District, Dar es Salaam, marking the first day of his five-day visit to the region.

"The elections will be held in accordance with the constitution and the law. I've seen in their groups that they are encouraging each other to raise funds to prevent the elections, but the money will be wasted because the elections will happen," said Makalla.

While addressing the leaders, Makalla added that if they maintain their stance of not participating in the elections, it is clear that after the general elections, the Chadema party will lose its status as the main opposition party in the country.

This decision would crush the dreams of many aspiring candidates for local council, parliamentary, and special seats, as the new leadership would diminish their hopes.

Also , Makalla suggested that it would be wiser for them to participate in the elections and then come together to agree on changes afterward.

"President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, upon hearing these calls for electoral changes from various stakeholders, formed a task force to gather opinions and provide advice on existing laws, appointing Prof. Mkandara as the chairperson to facilitate these changes," Makalla explained.

He also mentioned that all parties were invited to meet and share their views, and all participated except for Chadema, which insisted on being heard alone.

They approached the former Deputy Chairman of CCM, Abdulrahman Kinana, and submitted a report to the President, leading to the swift preparation of a bill that was sent to Parliament.
