Zanzibar to lower the prices of food products during Ramadan

The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, expressed satisfaction with the availability of food products and urged traders not to raise prices as ' Ramadan' approaches. 

During his visit to the Jumbi, Mwanakwerekwe, and Darajani markets to assess business activities and food supply in anticipation of Ramadan, Dr. Mwinyi emphasized the government's plans to construct additional markets in various locations to ensure that all traders operate in formal environments.

He also instructed market management to seek better methods for preserving traders' goods to maintain cleanliness in the markets at all times.

 Also ,he directed the relevant institutions to ensure the availability of water services and air conditioning in all markets while enhancing sanitation.

This visit marked Dr. Mwinyi's first since the opening of the new Jumbi and Mwanakwerekwe markets and the significant renovation of the Darajani market.

He added that during Ramadan, it is crucial to lower food prices and small goods to enable every citizen to meet their needs as the holy month begins.
