US President Donald Trump announced that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine regarding a 'peace ' agreement are progressing significantly, commending Russia for its role in the discussions.
This remark came during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the White House.
Starmer emphasized the need for the United States to offer security support for European forces involved in a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, following the peace talks that Trump has been advocating since his inauguration last month.
While seated with Starmer in the Oval Office, Trump expressed confidence that a peace agreement with Russia would be durable and suggested that he does not foresee another invasion of Ukraine by Putin.
He also mentioned that he would withhold specific details about peacekeeping arrangements until a formal agreement is reached, saying , "I think Russia has been acting very well... we are very well advanced on the deal, but we have not made a deal yet."
