TCAA provides aid to Kilimanjaro prisoners

Aids to prisoners

The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has provided various humanitarian assistance to inmates and detainees at the Karanga Central Prison in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region.

The aid delivered includes female sanitary pads, soap, toothbrushes, and dental care products.

While presenting the assistance, the Director General of the Authority, Mr. Salim Msangi, urged both government and private institutions to foster a culture of visiting inmates who face numerous challenges.

"It is essential for all private and government institutions to recognize that we have a responsibility to support these inmates. There are prisoners and detainees here who require essential services, and the government cannot address every need alone; this is something we must understand,"  Msangi said.

He added that while the assistance may seem small, it is significant for those in need, emphasizing the responsibility of institutions to recognize the importance of aiding this vulnerable group.

After receiving the donations, the Regional Prison Officer (RPO) for Kilimanjaro, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Leonard Burushi, expressed gratitude to the Authority, noting that the assistance has arrived at a crucial time.

SACP Burushi mentioned that within the prison, there are inmates and detainees with significant needs that the government cannot meet on an individual basis.
