The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Philip Mpango, has urged the e-Government Authority (e-GA) to finalize the design and construction of the National Information Exchange System and to ensure that all public institutions are integrated into this system.
This appeal was made during the opening of the Fifth Working Session of the e-Government Authority, held at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC).
The Vice President emphasized the importance of this initiative in facilitating operations within institutions and improving service delivery to citizens, as directed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, who has instructed public institutions to ensure their systems are interoperable and capable of exchanging information.
Vice President said "public institutions should collaborate with the e-Government Authority at every stage of the development or procurement, management, and operation of ICT projects".
He also called on all heads of public institutions to adhere to the laws, regulations, and guidelines provided by the relevant authorities in the implementation of e-Government activities.
Additionally, the Vice President directed regions that have not yet adopted the e-Office system to ensure its implementation by June 30. He also called for the strengthening of research centers and the expansion of workspaces.
The Vice President affirmed that the government will continue to invest in building the capacity of ICT professionals and other sectors by creating conducive teaching environments in universities and higher education institutions to ensure a sufficient supply of qualified experts.
Lastly, the Vice President encouraged participants of the working session and all Tanzanians eligible to vote to engage in the upcoming 2025 General Election by registering in the Permanent Voter Register, contesting for various leadership positions, and participating in the voting process to elect qualified leaders capable of effective governance.
