Members of the Board of Trustees of the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) have commended the efforts of Lake Manyara National Park in enhancing the ecology of its areas, which has led to an increase in wildlife within the park.
CPA Khadija Ramadhani, a board member and chair of the Audit Committee, expressed these praises during a site inspection on February 6, 2025, in the Manyara region.
During her visit, CPA Khadija remarked on the significant improvements made by the management of Lake Manyara National Park in environmental conservation, saying the visible rise in various animal populations compared to previous conditions.
She highlighted the presence of giraffes, zebras, elephants, and numerous antelopes, commending the ongoing efforts to protect park areas and enhance dense forest regions by implementing firelines to mitigate the impact of wildfires and invasive plant species, thereby improving animal grazing conditions.
Additionally, Deputy Conservation Commissioner Steria Ndaga, who oversees the Northern Conservation Zone, said that these initiatives align with infrastructure improvements to facilitate tourism and natural resource protection.
He emphasized that many roads in Lake Manyara National Park are now accessible year-round, regardless of weather conditions, which has encouraged an influx of tourists who appreciate the park's attractions and express a desire to return.
Also, Yustina Kiwango, the Assistant Commissioner for Conservation and Head of Lake Manyara National Park, said that the organization is committed to diligently fulfilling its responsibilities efficiently and timely to enhance productivity for both the agency and the nation as a whole.
Furthermore, Commissioner Kiwango emphasized that the park will continue to address the challenges it faces, ensure the protection of natural resources, provide excellent services to visitors, and maintain the environment to support a thriving ecosystem for wildlife reproduction and growth, benefiting both current and future generations.
