US President Donald Trump has said that he does not intend to deport Prince Harry from the United States amid ongoing legal issues regarding the prince's immigration status.
Trump remarked, "I don't want to do that," adding that Harry has enough challenges with his wife, whom he described unfavorably.
The controversy surrounding Harry's immigration status stems from a lawsuit in Washington, D.C., initiated by the Heritage Foundation, which claims he may have hidden past illegal drug use that could have disqualified him from obtaining a U.S. visa.
In his memoir, Spare, Harry admitted to using cocaine and experimenting with other drugs during his youth, which Heritage referenced in its legal filing against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to access his visa records.
Additionally, there were allegations that former President Joe Biden provided Harry with special treatment when he moved to California after stepping back from royal duties.
The Heritage Foundation had previously attempted to obtain Harry's visa information through U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which indicated that the release required the Duke's consent.
Interestingly, Trump had previously hinted at the possibility of deportation last March, suggesting that if Harry had lied about his drug use, appropriate actions would need to be taken.
The U.S. Department of State has indicated that drug convictions can render visa applicants ineligible.
This week, Judge Carl Nichols requested the DHS to clarify what redactions could be made to Harry's visa records, hinting that some information might soon be made public.
