Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has publicly discussed his relationship with girlfriend Paula Hurd for the first time.
In a recent interview on the Today show, the 69-year-old Gates shared his joy, saying that he feels fortunate to have a serious girlfriend and that they are enjoying activities together, including attending the Olympics.
Paula Hurd, a philanthropist and developer, was previously married to former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd until his death in 2019.
Gates and Hurd were first seen together in 2022, officially confirming their relationship in early 2023, and have since attended several high-profile events, such as the Paris Olympics and Anant Ambani’s wedding.
In a separate interview with the Times of London, Gates reflected on his divorce from Melinda French Gates, which he described as his greatest regret.
He acknowledged that the divorce was a challenging time for both parties, lasting around two years, and admitted to causing Melinda pain during their marriage, including an affair with a Microsoft employee.
Gates took responsibility for his actions but noted that discussing specifics was unproductive.
Additionally, his past connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein were a significant factor in their separation, with Melinda expressing her strong disapproval of those meetings, calling Epstein "abhorrent." Gates has since referred to his association with Epstein as a "mistake."
