The Kimara Primary Court in Dar es Salaam has issued a warrant for the arrest of former District Commissioner of Karagwe, Godfrey Mheluka, for failing to appear in court.
Mheluka faces charges of armed assault and causing serious injury to a teacher at Top Layer primary and nursery school.
The case, overseen by Judge Masawe, was scheduled for January 6, 2025, but was postponed to January 8 due to Mheluka's absence without any valid excuse, prompting the judge to authorize the arrest warrant.
Mheluka is accused of attacking Iman Mwaipaja on October 27, 2024, in Kimara, armed with various weapons and accompanied by six youths, inflicting severe physical harm and humiliation.
Additionally, Mwaipaja has requested the case be transferred to the District Court, claiming it was improperly filed in the current court.
Another allegation against Mheluka includes the theft of 12 million shillings during the incident.
