Partnership between Tanzania and the US

 The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Philip Mpango, expressed gratitude for the ongoing collaboration with the United States, highlighting its significant impact on various sectors.

 During a farewell meeting with the departing US Ambassador to Tanzania, Hon. Michael Battle, at Chamwino Palace in Dodoma on January 10, 2025, he noted that this partnership has been instrumental in advancing health initiatives, particularly in combating AIDS through programs like PEPFAR, as well as enhancing maternal and child health services.

Looking ahead, the Vice President emphasized the desire to strengthen ties with the incoming American Ambassador, focusing on boosting business opportunities and establishing direct flights from the US to Tanzania to promote tourism. 

He also underscored the importance of technological collaboration, recognizing the US's role in global tech advancements, which could support Tanzania's goals for clean cooking energy and improved agricultural productivity. 

Furthermore, he highlighted the need for educational partnerships to empower youth and enhance human resources for national development.  He assured that the Tanzanian government, under President Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, is committed to conducting free, transparent, and peaceful elections by October this year, while also commending Ambassador Battle for his commendable service during his tenure.

The Vice President has conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, noting that the world has lost a true symbol of democracy and peace. He also expressed sorrow over the tragic fire disaster in Los Angeles, which resulted in significant loss of life and property.

Outgoing American Ambassador Hon. Micheal Battle expressed gratitude to the Government of Tanzania for their support during his tenure, assuring that his successor will build upon the accomplishments achieved.

 He highlighted that the "R" Four program initiated by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is not just a framework for political reform but also serves as a global example of how a nation can implement changes and foster good governance to effectively serve its citizens.
