The government of Tanzania to cooperate with Burundi

Bilateral partnership between Burundi and Tanzanian

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing collaboration with Burundi across various development sectors, particularly in energy.

This assurance was conveyed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Doto Biteko, during a meeting with Burundi's Minister of Energy and Minerals, Hon. Ibrahim Uwizeye, who visited him in Dar es Salaam.

Dr. Biteko emphasized President Samia's role in fostering both domestic and international relations, highlighting the successful implementation of projects like the RUSUMO electricity initiative, a collaborative effort involving Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania.

He urged Burundi to enhance ties with local entrepreneurs to mitigate potential conflicts that could disrupt community welfare.

In response, Minister Uwizeye expressed gratitude to President Samia for her support in various sectors, including energy.

Additionally, Dr. Biteko has engaged with energy ministers from Malawi, Tunisia, Rwanda, and Comoros, as well as the President of GE VERNIVA, to discuss energy development and cooperation.

These discussions followed the Energy Conference of African Heads of State, known as 300 missions, which aims to provide electricity access to 300 million Africans by 2030.
