The army protected Yoon against the protest

A president of south Korea
Honorable: Yoon Suk Yeol

The South Korean army, under the command of the Presidential Guard, intervened today, January 3, 2024, to thwart the arrest of former President Yoon Suk Yeol by approximately 3,000 police officers.

This action followed the police's attempt to detain Yoon, who was recently ousted by Parliament, as they surrounded his residence with an arrest warrant issued in connection with anti-corruption investigations.

Yoon's legal team contends that the arrest warrant is unlawful and has announced plans to pursue legal action against both the police and the investigators involved.

It is noteworthy that the South Korean Parliament voted to remove Yoon from office in December 2023, following his controversial announcement of a military force law aimed at countering threats from North Korea.

Despite his removal, Yoon remains determined to fight for his presidency, with supporters camping outside his residence to prevent any attempts at questioning or arrest.
