Subsidized pricing serves as a powerful strategy for promoting clean energy adoption in rural communities

 Mtwara Regional Commissioner Hon. Colonel Patrick Sawala expressed his appreciation to President Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for the introduction of a six-kilogram gas stove (LPG) project, offered at a 50% subsidy for rural residents in the region. 

This acknowledgment took place on January 2, 2025, during a project launch at his office, where the service provider, Taifa Gas Company, was represented by Engineer Emanuel Yesaya from the Rural Energy Agency (REA).

 Colonel Sawala highlighted the project's potential to mitigate health risks, protect water sources, and reduce carbon emissions, emphasizing the importance of community support for the President's initiative.

He urged the public to embrace the subsidized stoves, reinforcing that the President's commitment to citizen welfare is evident in this project. 

Colonel Sawala also called for collaboration between REA and Taifa Gas with local leaders to ensure effective project implementation. 

Engineer Yesaya elaborated on the REA's efforts to execute the National Strategy for the Use of Clean Cooking Energy 2024-2034, aiming for 80% of Tanzanians to adopt clean cooking solutions by 2034, thereby enhancing public health and addressing climate change challenges.
