The Executive Director of the Economic Empowerment Agency (ZEEA), Juma Burhan, stated that the implementation of digital systems within the agency and all government institutions in the country will enhance transparency and accountability.
Speaking in Zanzibar during an interview on ZBC TV's Tatua program, Burhan emphasized that modern digital systems will significantly improve operational efficiency across various sectors.
He noted that it is an opportune moment for Zanzibar to adopt digital systems through "ZEEA" to empower citizens economically.
Burhan highlighted that " ZEEA " has proactively engaged in adapting to technological changes that will foster transparency and accountability in operations, ultimately boosting the economy of Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole.
Furthermore, he mentioned that in the two years of President Dr. Hussen Mwinyi's four-year term, substantial progress has been made in addressing challenges faced by entrepreneurs and developing infrastructure to facilitate service delivery to the public.
Burhan urged citizens to be ready for these changes, as many developed countries have transitioned to digital economies, and the current period necessitates this shift.
Regarding " ZEEA" and digital loans, he revealed that preparations are underway to provide digital loans, including training for their staff, followed by outreach to all local councils to inform citizens about accessing these loans digitally.
He assured that this digital loan system would resolve many previous issues, acknowledging past delays in loan disbursement, which could take months. Now, loans will be available within 24 hours, with options for five to six days or up to 14 days, depending on the loan amount.
"Right now there are loans that will start to be given for a period of 24 hours ,there are those that will go for five to six days and there will be others that will take 14 days ; that is due to the size of the requested money , but loans of 100,000 to 2 million will not exceed one day ", Burhan said.
