African leaders have expressed significant appreciation for Tanzania's efforts in food production, particularly in rice and maize cultivation.
Prime Minister ,Kassim Majaliwa assured them that Tanzania will continue to enhance research and collaborate with the private sector and agricultural institutions to solidify its role as a key food producer on the continent.
Speaking on January 11, 2025, during a special summit of African heads of state in Uganda, he highlighted the positive feedback from leaders like Uganda's President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who praised Tanzania's high-quality food production.
Dr. Majaliwa emphasized that Tanzania aims to produce sufficient food for domestic consumption and export, shifting its agricultural focus from subsistence to commercial viability.
Recently, Uganda's President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni called on African leaders to enhance the value of agricultural products prior to sale, aiming to boost productivity and create job opportunities, particularly for the youth. He highlighted the coffee industry as a prime example, noting that while one kilogram of unprocessed coffee fetches only two US dollars in Uganda, processing that same coffee can elevate its price to 40 US dollars.
Tanzania stands out as a leading nation in agriculture and production today. President Samia's philosophy has significantly boosted output across various sectors, including tourism, livestock farming, education, and employment.
