The government has officially transferred 109 houses to disaster victims in Hanang, a gesture reflecting the compassion and commitment of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
During the handover ceremony on December 20, 2024, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa expressed the President's apologies to the affected individuals and reiterated the government's dedication to restoring their lives.
The construction of these homes was funded by the Central Government, with contributions from the Asset Production Organization of the Nation Building Force (SUMA-JKT), the Tanzania Red Cross, and the Women's Union of the National Revolutionary Party (UWT).
The Prime Minister highlighted that the initiative, which involved an investment of 1.38 billion shillings for essential services like electricity and water, aims to ensure that the new homes are equipped with necessary infrastructure.
He also urged local leaders to facilitate the allocation of additional plots to transform the area into a fully developed village rather than merely a settlement for disaster victims.
