Prime Minister , Kassim Majaliwa has directed the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports to enhance collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that boxers can fully leverage their talents.
This announcement was made during the 'Knockout of Mama' boxing match event at the Super Dome in Masaki, Dar es Salaam, on December 26, 2024.
He emphasized that while boxing was once informal, established regulations now mandate that players receive compensation, ensuring that contracts are honored and interests are protected.
Furthermore, Mr. Majaliwa urged the Ministry to work closely with boxing stakeholders to provide top-notch training for coaches and athletes, which will equip Tanzanian boxers with modern skills for improved performance.
He also highlighted the importance of creating more opportunities for women in boxing, allowing them to showcase their talents. The Prime Minister acknowledged the significant advancements in the sports sector under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which have enabled broader participation in various sports.
Regarding the MaMa Knockout event, he praised the collaborative efforts of stakeholders committed to societal development, particularly in boxing.
Additionally, Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, commended President Samia for her substantial contributions to the sports sector, noting that her strong political will has positively impacted and invigorated the growth of this field.
