The Minister of Water, Jumaa Aweso has visited and spoken with the leaders of the EXIM Bank of Korea which provided funds for the implementation of sewage projects in Tanzania with a total of 248.3 million US Dollars (Dar es Salaam USD 90 million, Dodoma USD 70 million and Iringa ,USD 88.3 million).
The Vice President of the Bank has said that through EDCF and other Funds, the Korean Government will continue to support the Government of Tanzania through the Water Sector in further investment in the development of Water Projects.
The development of these projects will strengthen environmental sanitation services, remove and treat sewage, Tanzania has also received support of 8 million US dollars which will build a system to manage water services (Smart Water Management System) in the Iringa Water Authority from the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI), through that system, IRUWASA will be the first Water Authority in the country to use the system which will increase efficiency in controlling water loss, strengthening revenue collection and strengthening water service.
Through Aweso's visit to South Korea, he has strengthened cooperation with water stakeholders in Korea, which are K-Water and various companies, a situation that has opened more opportunities for cooperation in building the capacity of employees and water institutions, including preparing projects and raising funds .
This water project will help many citizens, where they will be able to eradicate and prevent various diseases including tuberculosis, fever and lung disease.
