An accident that happened at Karikoo after tall building collapsed |
The prime minister of Tanzania has given rescue instructions in the area of Karikoo, Dar es salaam, which suffered a surprise accident, he has asked the security agencies and all the rescue teams to go and save people and conduct an internal investigation that will help find the people who suffered an accident after the Karikoo building collapsed .
"All security agencies should ensure that all people stuck inside the building collapsed in Karikoo ward in Dar es salaam are rescued while their property is protected", Dr Majaliwa said.
He issued the order today (Saturday, November 16, 2024) after witnessing ongoing rescue efforts after a four-storey building collapsed in the Karikoo area.
Speaking after inspecting the rescue efforts in the area on behalf of the Honorable President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, Mr. Majaliwa has said that, 40 people have been injured of which 33 have been discharged and seven are undergoing treatment and one has died.
“My brothers, I have come to see the ongoing rescue situation and apologize on behalf of the Honorable President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan. I also thank the citizens for your participation since this incident happened in” , Dr Majaliwa.
Also, the Prime Minister has used the opportunity to assure Tanzanians that the great rescue work is ongoing and all the defense and rescue agencies are in the area, so he has asked them to continue to be patient.
In another step, Mr. Majaliwa has directed the Secretary general of the Prime Minister's Office (Policy, Parliament and Coordination) Dr. Jim Yonazi to oversee the investigation to determine the cause of the accident. “Experts who are involved in construction issues, do an inspection of the ongoing construction of buildings”
The Prime Minister has emphasized that the rescue work will continue until ensuring that he is released to the last person. “While I'm here, I saw a man come out and he said his colleagues are down,”
In another step, Mr. Majaliwa has visited the victims of the accident who were admitted to the Muhimbili National Hospital for treatment.
The government has said that it will continue to conduct a professional investigations to find out the problem in more detail .
