Prime minister, Kassim Majaliwa has said that it is important for Tanzania and Cuba to strengthen relations in the area of research and the use of medicinal plants for the production of medicines for various human diseases in the country.
Mr. Majaliwa said this on August 13, 2024 after visiting the Cardenas pharmaceutical factory using medicinal plants in Matanzas State, while on a special visit to Cuba.
He said there is a need for herbal researchers from Cuba to come to Tanzania and conduct research on plants, a drug similar to the one they use in their country to see if it will be useful to make medicine.
“ As today Cuba says AIDS has decreased by more than 98 percent, this is a great success achieved by using drugs that they themselves make. Cubans say that the problem of diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes has decreased significantly, that is a great success", Dr Majaliwa.
"Tanzania has a lot of plant for medical researches , so this cooperation between Tanzania and Cuba will strengthen relation in medical field and various experiences that will be shared between the two countries"Dr Majaliwa .
