Dr .kassim Majaliwa has said that the public authority has reinforced the labor force in the wellbeing area by expanding foundations that give wellbeing training and admittance to advanced education for open doors for that area .
"The government has expanded health training institutions to increase the number of graduates . These institutions include colleges of nursing , midwifery ,and medicine . Currently our country has 182 institutions including 137 institutions owned by private sector . It is comforting to see that in the year 2024 alone , the colleges have admitted 40, 000 students ", said
Speaking to leaders , stakeholders and employees who participated in the opening of the second national conference on human resources in the health sector __the prime minister said that the government of the sixth phase has ensured that opportunities for higher education studies are available by continuing to provide loans to qualified students.
" But also , students studying health courses have been given priority all the time by being given 100% percent loans . In addition , the issue of developing human resources has continued to be a priority of the government by increasing the budget of the education sector every year in order to achieve the construction of human resources with skills , important skills and who can afford local needs and international competition ", said .
Explaining about the steps taken by the government, the prime minister has said that the government has strengthened primary health care ,health services and the district level and is now strengthening these services at the council level .
" We have strengthened basic services and now we are building council hospitals to reduce the distance for citizens living in peripheral areas . Right now we are also strengthening referral services such as Benjamin and Bugando hospitals " said .
Explaining about the employment and planning of health services employees , the prime minister has said that during the three years of the government's leadership of the sixth phase , 30,000 employees have been employed and assigned to work centers including rural ones . " Some of these employees include doctors ,nurses and midwives , this is a very big step of development in the provision of health services in the country", said .
He has said that the government will continue to ensure that access to human resources, medical equipment and medicines continues to be the priorities of the government of the sixth phase.
Earlier , inviting the prime minister to speak with the participants of the two_ day conference , the minister of health known as Ummy Mwalimu said the Benjamin Mkapa institute (BMF) has organized the conference as part of remembering the late president Benjamin Mkapa but also to emphasize the need to develop human resources in the sector of health.
He congratulated the institution for managing their main dream of producing employees in the health sector which every time they graduate they have been assigned jobs in peripheral areas for a three__year contract ." These employees are doing very good job where they are and when they finish their contract with this institution __we have been taking them so that they can continue to provide services to the people they are used to "
Also , the minister of health of the revolutionary government of Zanzibar (SMZ) , Nassor Ahmed Mazoni said that the issue of the development of human resources in the health sector is important, but he emphasized the argument of fighting for medical tourism so that the improved infrastructure can serve people who come from abroad .
And , the chief executive of the institution, Dr . Ellen Mkondya_ Senkoro said the meeting was attended by more than 800 people from inside and outside Tanzania
Explaining the success of the Benjamin Mkapa institution , Dr Senkoro said that through the provision of health services , it has reached more than 32 million citizens and they have provided more than 13,000 jobs in the health sector.
The government has focused on health sector to raise national workforce at a more advanced stage where the goal is to strengthen the health and development systems of the nation .
