The President of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has arrived at Seoul Army Airport, Republic of Korea for an official business visit today May 31, 2024.
The President is in the country to visit until June 06, 2024 at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol where he will start an official dual visit to the country which will be held on June 1st and 2nd, 2024 and will be followed by a business visit that will enable him to participate in the Meeting of Heads of State and Government Between Africa and Korea that will be held on June 3rd and 4th, 2024.
"I have arrived in South Korea at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol. Korea is one of our biggest development partners since we officially started diplomatic relations with them on April 30, 1992.
Our relationship with Korea has directly touched the lives of citizens and we must continue to work to promote it and increase its productivity. Some of the major projects that we have collaborated with Korea to achieve include the Malagarasi River Bridge, the Tanzanite Bridge and the Muhimbili-Mloganzila Hospital.
This visit is part of the implementation of the work of Economic Diplomacy, and after the talks between me and Mr. President, our countries will sign various agreements to further develop our relationship, especially problems affecting the transport sectors, economy, aviation, strategic minerals, culture, art and agriculture.
Later I will hold talks with the leaders of large Korean companies in the energy, infrastructure and film production sectors to see how our countries can cooperate in these areas including promoting technology, tourism, investing in film studios in the country and the construction of the National Film Academy (Tanzania National Film Academy).
Before concluding the visit, I will participate in the Korea-Africa Summit that brings together African Heads of State and the Korean Government. I will address the forum and share experiences and strategies in food and mineral security"
The visit, among other things, aims to promote and strengthen the cooperation and political and diplomatic relations between these two countries, which has lasted for 32 years now since it was established in 1992.
President Samia will meet for official talks with his host President Yoon Suk Yeol which will be held on June 2nd, 2024 which will focus on discussing how to strengthen cooperation between Tanzania and the Republic of Korea in various areas including Health, Education and Infrastructure.
