Minister of finance Doctor Mwigulu Nchemba has presented the timetable of
the main budget of the Government for the financial year 2024/2025 in Parliament in Dodoma today June 13, 2024, has proposed to levy excise duty at the rate of seven thousand (7000) shillings for every one liter of Un- denatured ethyl alcohol with alcohol of 80 percent or more from abroad.
“I recommend charging a product tax at the rate of 7,000 shillings for every liter of UN-denatured Ethyl Alcohol with alcohol of 80 percent or more that comes from abroad and 5,000 shillings for every liter of Un-denatured Ethyl Alcohol with alcohol of 80 percent or more produced in”,Dr Mwigulu explained.
“The product is recognized by HS Code 2207.10.00 and the collection will not involve Un-denatured Ethyl Alcohol used for other uses not related to the production of intoxicants after obtaining the consent of the Minister responsible for relevant issues”
“These different standards are recommended with the aim of protecting local industries, the aim of this step is to increase the Government's income where this step expects to increase the Government's income by the amount of 154 million shillings” , Dr. Mwigulu said.
Dr Mwigulu presented this budget in various governmental projects which are production sectors , infrastructure, community services as well as the interests of retirees .
